Camp Description:
Located on 400 beautifully wooded acres near Wisconsin Dells, Easter Seals Camps provides camping experiences for children and adults with physical and cognitive disabilities. At Camp Wawbeek there is always something to do and everything is wheelchair accessible. There is boating, fishing, hiking, swimming, basketball, painting, ocstacle courses or you can try flying through the air on a zipline! For campers of all ages, there's time to relax, talk with new friends and hang around with people who love and respect you for who you are. In the evenings you'll enjoy dances, roast marshmallows and sing around the campfire. There is a registered nurse living on-site and one counselor for every four campers. He or she is trained to meet your special needs--whether that's helping with personal care or cheering you on as you sing Karaoke. Camp Wawbeek offers specialty weekends in February and March. Throughout the summer there are six and twelve-day sessions for different age groups. Pick the one that is right for you and come have some fun! Taking care of a loved one with a disability can be a very rewarding experience, but there is no denying it can also be an incredibly exhausting task. The Wisconsin Elks Association and Easter Seals Wisconsin recognized respite as the number one need of parents and caregivers of individuals with disabilities and have teamed up to provide this unique program. Easter Seals Respite Services gives parents and caregivers time away from the stresses of caring for a loved one (ages 3 and up) with disabilities, allowing them the opportunity to have time to themselves, spend time with their other family members or friends, run errands, and take care of all those other activities that go into having a well-balanced life.
