Camp Description:
Shouldn’t YOU be outdoors?
Welcome to DPNC’s
Summer Nature Camp!
Summers are made for outdoor exploration ...and the Nature Center is the perfect place to discover life’s wonders in a safe, fun, educational, and social environment.Campers will investigate ponds, forests & meadow habitats using tools like seining nets, binoculars, pond nets, microscopes and more!
Each day campers set out on foot to comb trails in search of turtles, salamanders, bird nests, butterflies, moss, wildflowers, sealife and other fascinating discoveries at the Nature Center and other great natural areas.
Activities designed to complement each day’s hike or field trip include topic-related lessons, games, crafts, and special projects.
Summer camp is a great place to meet new peers. An effort will be made to place children with friends, if requested, but insuring small class size and safety are our top priority.
A limited number of camp scholarships are available to those with need. Call 536-1216 for more information.
Excellence in Teaching
Every year, the Nature Center attracts some of the area’s finest teachers and naturalists as camp instructors. Highly qualified individuals are selected based on their knowledge of ecological concepts and natural communities, and on their enthusiasm for sharing their appreciation of the outdoors with children of all ages.
Safety
Small groups allow our staff of experienced teachers/naturalists to provide in-dividualized attention to every child.
Every teacher holds certification in Basic First Aid and CPR. DPNC is a state licensed facility with strictly maintained safety standards and practices.
