Camp Description:
Easter Seal’s Camp Horizon is a leader in providing outdoor recreation for Albertans with special needs. Its programs have brightened the lives of an estimated 75,000 people with disabilities and serious illnesses in over 30 years of operation. The camp’s cedar lodges and recreation facilities are located in beautiful Kananaskis Country, southwest of Bragg Creek, Alberta.Programs Summer camps brighten the lives of several hundred children with cerebral palsy, ostomies, cancer, diabetes, and related conditions every year. They enjoy environmental arts, games, camping, canoeing, hiking, climbing, campfire programs, fun and fellowship. Adult camps are offered in the spring, and many especially look forward to spending Christmas at Horizon, with gift giving, turkey dinner and hayrides. Uniqueness Easter Seal’s Camp Horizon is the only provider of residential camp programs for people with special needs in Southern Alberta. Furthermore, most of its programs are the only ones of their type in the Province; these include the only residential camps in Alberta for kids with diabetes and the deaf and hard of hearing; and the only Christmas camp for Albertans with disabilities. Our Ostomy camp is the only one in all Canada.
