Camp Description:
Camp Nawakwa, located 37 miles north of Eau Claire and 10 miles northwest of Cornell, is in the forested hills around pristine Picnic Lake. Our lake has a sandy beach area for swimming and water sports. Our new amphitheater is located near the beach for all camp activities. Camp facilities include a dining hall, well-equipped program buildings, playing field, low ropes course, health center, storm shelter, flush and pit toilets and central shower house. Of our five living units, two are platform tents with wood floors and screened canvas tents. One site provides screened cabins, another consists of yurts, rustic three season dwellings and our newest is a house-type for our youngest campers. Primitive camping is also available. Our staff is skilled and trained in first aid and CPR and other specialized areas including horseback riding, ropes course, swimming and watercraft, and outdoor living. Typical camp activities include swimming, boating, games, songs, campfires, hikes, crafts, and outdoor cooking. Girls are included in planning their programs, which lasts from three to eleven days depending on the session. Camp Nawakwa is for all girls ages 5-17. Non-Girl Scouts are encouraged to attend camp, however a $10.00 membership fee will be added to all non-Girl Scout fees. Registration begins in March and they are honored on a first come first served basis. Please contact us if you have questions or would like a brochure.
