Camp Description:
Hundreds of aspiring artists from all over the world participate in five weeks of intensive training in dance, drama, filmmaking, music, and visual arts with distinguished artist faculty. Students explore their potential as artists in a residential setting and experience first-hand the training offered at a conservatory. Age requirements for the programs vary as do tuition and fees. The North Carolina School of the Arts is situated on a small 57-acre campus in Winston-Salem, a metropolitan city with a national tradition of leadership in the arts. Located in the Piedmont Triad, the school is just hours from both the mountains and the shore. One of sixteen campuses of The University of North Carolina, the School of the Arts was established in 1965 by an act of the North Carolina General Assembly. The school is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. Students who participate in the summer programs offered by the North Carolina School of the Arts study their art, perfect their art, and immerse themselves in their art. For five weeks, students grow as artists and as individuals - sharing themselves with other artists, making friendships that last a lifetime, and developing interpersonal skills - amidst a community of fellow artists. Both high school and college credit may be earned for participation in any of the programs.
