Camp Description:
Natural Ear Music Camp is a three week workshop, designed and directed by Michele Murphy, a lifelong performer and musician. There will be two sessions this year, June 10 through 28 and July 8 through 26. We also have a residential camp for a limited number of students, which will run from July 15 through the 26.
Cost: $625.00 day camp (15 days) Residential camp: $1825.00 (12 days)

The day camp is held for 4 hours per day, at the Music Lab, a professional rehearsal and recording facility located in South Austin at 1306 W. Oltorf. We meet from 11 am to 3 pm, five days a week, for three weeks. We group our applicants into bands of six with similar musical interests, ability and age. Each group is responsible for choosing three songs and deciding who will play which instrument on each song. Each teacher has a distinct style and methods of his own, but we share a common philosophy of teaching. The teacher may keep his group in a particular configuration for all three songs, or they can switch instruments on every song.

The gigs are held the last Thursday of camp, followed by a picnic on Friday at Barton Springs.
No adults are allowed onstage during a Natural Ear Music Camp Performance.
There are no auditions, and there are no refunds.
No ugly music, suicide dirges, obscenity or drug anthems are allowed onstage.
The songs must be entertaining and have a respectable degree of difficulty. Beginning groups will choose their songs from a prepared list of songs; advanced groups will negotiate their material choice during the first week.
