Camp Description:
There are NO sidelines at residential camp Wekandu, for children with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis and related conditions. 24-hour on-site physician and therapist supervision, camp nurse, and visiting staff from Special Treatment Center for Juvenile Arthritis make Wekandu a safe and stimulating environment in which kids can learn about arthritis, participate in adapted activities, and share ideas. Our host facility is Joy Outdoor Education Center in Clarksville, OH; campers enjoy Joy's accessible cabins (with bathrooms), trained counselor staff, excellent meals and snacks, and spacious grounds with walk-in swimming pool, Alpine Tower, and a trip to The Dude Ranch for horseback riding. Campers who have completed first grade through high-school graduation are encouraged to apply. Financial assistance is readily available. We hope to see you in August!
