Camp Description:
The OVAL Day Camp located in Maplewood, NJ offers a full day camp program for girls ages 6-12 years. Campers participate in the normal day to day activities such as arts & crafts, nature/outdoor skills and badge work as well as their previously selected interested area. Swimming is at a local facility off camp property. OVAL staff must be a minimum of 15 years for age for Junior Counselors, 17-19 for Unit Staff and 20 or older for Unit Leaders. Strong Girl Scouting background helpful. Alcohol and illegal drugs are never permitted on camp property. Smoking is discouraged as time does not permit for it. Named for its huge grassy playing field, the OVAL is located in Essex County's South Mountain Reservation in Maplewood, New Jersey. There are eight cabins on the perimeter of the field, all with flushing toilets and cold running water. The OVAL is available for Troop Camping on weekends in the Spring and Fall. Summer Day Camp is held during the months of July and August.
