Camp Description:
Camp Alpha is a four day long event that takes place at the University of Minnesota, Morris. Camp Alpha is aimed at students in grades 4-8. It is an overnight camp in which students will be involved with many different aspects of astronomy, aerospace, science, and math. They will tackle problems faced by real NASA scientists and learn the latest information on current space missions.
Our goals at Camp Alpha are to provide meaningful, hands-on experiences in the space sciences, and to foster the natural curiosity and interest that children have in space exploration. All campers will receive a Camp Alpha t-shirt, a White Wings model airplane, and two model rockets with a complete launching kit you build and launch yourself. There is also the opportunity for experienced model rocket builders to purchase the Challenge Kit which contains parts to build several rockets. It does NOT come with a launcher. An additional payment of $20.00 is required for this kit.
Students will stay on the beautiful campus at the University of Minnesota-Morris. Morris is located about 160 miles northwest of Minneapolis, MN. The cost of the event is $275.00. ($295.00 with the Challenge Kit). The event will start at 4:00 p.m. on June 15, and conclude at 4:00 p.m. on June 18. The last day to register is May 15, 2003.
