Camp Description:
The Center for Gifted Studies at Western Kentucky University, is pleased to offer both The Summer Program for Verbally and Mathematically Precocious Youth (VAMPY) and The Summer Camp for Academically Talented Middle School students (SCATS). VAMPY is a three-week residential summer program for very bright students who are currently enrolled in grades seven through ten. SCATS is a two-week program with both residential and non-residential options for students in grades six through eight. Both programs are designed to provide a balance of educational, cultural, and recreational experiences for high ability young people. These programs, each with nearly a thirty year history, will be held on the beautiful campus of Western Kentucky University which is located in south central Kentucky, seventy miles north of Nashville, Tennessee. The dates for VAMPY 2009 are June 28 to July 18. Students must have qualifying scores on the ACT or SAT to attend VAMPY. The dates for SCATS 2009 are June 14 - 26.
