Eco-Tots (ages 2-4, with a caregiver) let your little one experience Camp SoundWaters. Visit twice a week for one-hour of educational activities at the SoundWaters museum and aquarium. You and your child will discover the beauty of nature together, get cozy with the creatures of Long Island Sound and hear a nature story. Islanders (grades K-5, weekdays 9am – 3pm, four two-week sessions, one one-week session) spend their days coming face-to-face with creatures of Long Island Sound, exploring our watershed and conducting science experiments at coastal habitats in Cove Island Park. Each day observe something new. Become a scientist, explorer, marine expert or naturalist as you experience the unique qualities of the Island’s diverse habitats. New, this year Skippers (grades 4-6,weekdays 9am – 3pm, six one-week sessions) learn how to steer a boat or refresh skills. Skippers will spend half of each day learning how to sail Optimist Dinghy’s, 8 foot 1-2 person sailboats, on Holly Pond; the other half will be spent investigating nature and learning about local species. Mariners (grades 6-9 weekdays 9am – 5pm, five one-week sessions) spend a week aboard the schooner SoundWaters gaining hands-on marine science and seamanship skills. Develop confidence and pride as you raise the sails, chart a course and take the helm! All sessions include an overnight. Voyagers (grades 7-9, weekdays 9am – 4pm, four two-week sessions) trek through the Long Island Sound watershed uncovering nature’s mysteries from woods to waves.
