Camp Description:
At NYSMF, you will enjoy a richly challenging, exciting, and supportive musical environment in which to hone your musical skills -- while simultaneously enjoying all the fun and friends of a great music camp. Located in the beautiful foothills of New York State's Catskill Mountains, just over 3 hours from New York City, you will have the opportunity to study with our world-renowned faculty from Juilliard, Curtis, the Manhattan School of Music, and many other top music schools. NYSMF also hosts an amazing lineup of world-class musicians in our Visiting Artist Series, featuring greats from the Philadelphia Orchestra, the New York Pops, the New York Philharmonic, Tanglewood, and many others. Over 40 concerts are performed each summer, with every student performing in every two-week session. Students may choose among NYSMF's 50 ensembles and classes, including: - Orchestras, bands, chamber music, and jazz for instrumentalists - Choirs, jazz choirs, and original music theatre projects for vocalists - Composition workshops - An intensive jazz training program - Classes introducing new instruments, such as beginning piano and beginning guitar - Supplemental classes spanning a wide range of interests in areas of music history, theory, filmmaking, jazz improvisation, and many others! … The NYSMF is for students ages 11-25 … Open to all levels … Students may attend for 2, 4, or 6 weeks
