Camp Description:
Is there a summer camp where your daughter's interest in math and science is "totally cool?" At Wesleyan, there is. Spectacles is a series of math and science camps for middle school girls sponsored by Wesleyan College in Macon, Georgia. Middle school is a crucial time for girls as they view the world and the options that are before them. It is often the time when they make decisions about their interest and abilities in science and math. Spectacles offers exciting activities designed to encourage middle school girls to see science and math in new ways. The students engage in a wide variety of experiments using the Wesleyan College science laboratories and computer facilities. Field trips enrich the camp experience, by enabling students to use their science and math knowledge in a "real world" setting. Campers will also have the opportunity to meet with women in science and math-related fields and to learn from Wesleyan faculty in the Division of Science, Mathematics, and Computer Information Systems.
