Camp Description:
for children with special needs: CHAMP Campers have tracheostomies or need ventilator assistance, and most face physical challenges, such as quadriplegia. Generally, they are 6-15 years of age, both chronologically and developmentally. They typically are thought to be too “medically fragile” to go to camp because of the specific care they require. They rarely spend time outdoors. CHAMP Camp changes all that. It’s the camp that runs on air. We give these children a unique opportunity to experience the wonder and beauty of nature. Campers will watch a turtle bask in the sunshine. They’ll see rainbows and smell flowers and trek through the mud. They’ll learn about acorns and hawks and campfire songs.
