Yosemite Backpacking Adventures 2001

Imagine walking on a mountain trail overlooking the majestic Yosemite Valley, the sun on your face and wind at your back.  As you stop to rest, you look over the valley's huge granite cliffs and begin to understand why this place is one of our most popular national parks. As you and your new friends share the view, you hear a bird in the forest. Your instructor tells you it's the sound of a Great Gray Owl, an endangered species that often lives in Yosemite. Wow!



You will spend the first night at our Crane Flat campus, 
which is located about 16 miles from the Yosemite Valley, directly in Yosemite National Park. During the rest of the trip, you will learn everything you ever wanted to know about Yosemite, glaciers, flowers and plants, camping, backpacking, topographic maps reading, minimal impact camping and much more. Backpacking deep into the heart of Yosemite, you will be able to experience nature far away from the influence of  civilization.

This program offers a great opportunity to travel through one of the most beautiful and renowned backcountry areas in the world. Each group has no more than 12 students with 2 of our outstanding instructors, who will foster a deeper understanding of wilderness ethics, natural and cultural history, and resource issues. Each group will travel on a different trail in Yosemite Wilderness, so you probably won't see another person during your whole backpacking trip.

When you are on a backpacking trip in such a small group, you 
become like a family - you rely on each other for everything,  and get to know each other very well. You will meet people who want to have fun and love adventure, and will probably end up being good friends of yours for years to come.
When you all work together to get to the top of the mountain, how could you not?

You will see untouched meadows, towering waterfalls, and the wildlife that lives in these remote places. Without the light pollution of cities and towns, you will see more stars in the crisp night sky than you ever thought possible. that lasts a lifetime.
